What the heck is this thing he wears on his head?

I see it on TV, they wear it under their caps, I think it's
unbelievably ugly. Why do they wear it? What is it for?

It is always fun to watch the MTV Music Video Awards to see what those crazy
rappers are wearing! In other words, which rapper is wearing the most
fashionable football jersey. I guess that's the way that those losers dress
in the hood!

It's called a do-rag (sp?) and it is now standard headgear, worn under
an oversize baseball cap, among urban youth in NYC. This kind of head
wrap used to be used to hold African-American men's hair down flat that
had been "conked" (straightened using heavy duty lye-based products).
It's now simply a fashion among urban youth, most of whom may not know
its origin.
