How to spot a fake DKNY?

I recently bought a DKNY bag from eBay in the UK. It is a small rucksack
type bag. Now I feel the bag is fake as the leather isn't very soft and it
doesn't smell leathery. Is there any way I can tell if it is fake? The
seller insists it is genuine, but I feel I have been ripped off. Any help
would be appreciated.

Are you asking if it is a genuine DKNY product and not a copy? Or are you
asking if it is genuine leather vs. a manmade product?

If it is made of leather, it is probably marked/labeled as such somewhere
inside the bag. (Leather doesn't always smell like a cow and it definitely
doesn't have to be soft.) DKNY is Donna Karan's less expensive line. Even
in her designer line, she isn't obligated to use real leather; she can use
vinyl or whatever other mateials she chooses.

Hi, I wanted to know it it is a genuine DKNY. I dont mind if it isnt leather
as long as it is genuine. My friend said it cant be DKNY as it isnt leather.
Are there any signs to tell if it is a genuine DKNY bag?

Thanks for your help

I'm not sure why your friend thinks a genuine DKNY bag can't be made from a
synthetic leather-like material. (As far as I know, Donna Karan hasn't
taken a public oath to never use vinyl.<G>) I know that all sorts of things
get knocked off in this world, but DKNY isn't exactly a high end item in
general; it's her "affordable" line. As such, I wouldn't think it gets
ripped off as much as, say, the regular Donna Karan line.

If the seller has good feedback, I would assume she was truthful about the
item. The bottom line, for ebay or any other purchase for that matter, is
that you should never pay more than you are comfortable spending on an item.
It gets complicated when you are paying for a name because it *is* so hard
to tell if the item is genuine.

I hope you get pleasure out of the bag and that you don't fret too much
about the possibility of it being a knock-off.

DKNY is very affordable. I have a bag that I bought at TJMaxx for under $20
(if it was even that much). Vinyl.

I have an old DKNY shoulderbag I purchased at I Magnin in SF when the store
was going
out of business. It is a microfiber bag and the strap never smelled like
leather. I'll have to look
for any mention of leather inside the bag. I have kept it for so long
because it is incredibly light
and travels well. I'll echo Dona's advice for you to enjoy your handbag.

Or, given the usual way the industry works, whatever other material
the Far Eastern subcontractor found on the slow boat to China.

I have this exact same trench coat except in khaki. I bought it on a site kind of like eBay. The buttons are also very shabbily sewn on. Idk if it's fake or real but it doesn't seem very high quality. There's weird stitching all over the place and loose threads

Hi I was given a black leather DKNY purse/ hand bag for my birthday and it is beautiful. However upon inspection of the tag inside attached to the lining it reads on one side made in china followed by 4 numbers and on the opposite side of the tag it reads 100% genuine leather DEC 2014? Could this be a counterfeit?
